Vibrations: Coupled oscillators, oscillations of a string, modes, superposition, wave equation, soundwaves. The notion of fields, vector- and scalar fields.
Electrostatics: Electric field, Theorems of Gauss and Stokes, potential, dipole, equations of Laplace and Poisson, electrostatic analogues.
This course forms a unit with ECSII. In ECSI mainly vibrations in mechanics and electrostatics are treated.
Teaching methods and contact time
Problem Based Learning (PBL). Each problem takes 9 hours of work. Per week one session of 2 hours for presentation of former problem and preparation of next. Per week two sesssion of 2 hours of supervised work
