Aims
Understanding and evaluation of healthy physiology and pathophysiology of circulation and ventilation in patients, implementation and evaluation of diagnostics and therapy influencing these processes with technical means.

Content
The course Circulation and Ventilation discusses various diseases of patients on the Intensive Care focused at Circulation and Ventilation. This is on the one hand elucidated from a clinical perspective; what are the clinical problems and diseases, how are they recognized and treated. On the other hand there is the integration of the knowledge of the physiology of the cardiovascular and respiratory system which have been studied separately in the  bachelor program, and the systems approach from technological courses. This knowledge is used to understand the deregulated physiological processes in Intensive Care situations, and how these processes can be monitored and managed using technological means: for example artificial respiratory support. The students have sessions on a full body simulator (HPS), study scientific articles about relevant physiology background and about monitoring and managing critical body functions. For learning goals, see Dutch translation.
