The objective of this course to train experimental skills needed in the field of molecular & materials engineering. Students learn more about a variety of synthesis and characterization techniques by taking part in two experiments in two different research groups. The possible experiments are embedded in research groups with different research themes.
Students will work in pairs (or if needed in groups of three) and do two experiments in two different Chemical Science & Engineering research groups. Students will acquire a working knowledge of a variety of molecular and materials synthesis and characterization techniques.
This course is only accessible for Chemical Engineering students of the Molecular & Materials specialization.
The grading is per group. The grade is based on two experiments at different groups. For each experiment the group is tested on: knowledge of theoretical background, experimental work in the lab, and report. For each experiment a concise report of about 10 pages has to be delivered in which you have to describe the activities and results as obtained. More detailed instructions by the supervisors of the experiments.
