The master assignment is the final test wherein the student has to show
that he is able to function independently at an academic level and to
contribute to the research of the domain.

INTRODUCTION
With a Master Assignment the study of Industrial Design Engineering is finished. In this assignment the student has to show that he is capable to do research and/or develop a product on an academic level. This capability can be proved by carrying out fundamental or applied research or by the realization of an innovative product design. Innovative either because of the result or because of the methods followed. The master assignment can be done within the university or outside, either in a company, at another university or in a research institute.
CONTENT
Based on the technology the student learned in various ETD courses he will investigate the possibilities of applying this technology for new or existing (consumer) products. This can lead to a modification of the technology or the design and development of a product or both.
RELATION TO OTHER COURSES
The assignment is the application of many courses followed by the student in the master study.

Individual assignment work.
EXAMINATION
The master assignment is reviewed by a commission existing of at least three persons: the professor of the professorial chair, an (assistant/associate/full) professor being the daily supervisor from the department, an professor from the University, but not belonging to the department of the chair holder.
