After following the course a student is able to:
- design controllers for linear systems using a series of classical and modern methods
- understand how to model uncertainty in an H-infinity framework
- understand the basics of H2 control and related LQ and LQG
- comprehend fundamental limitations of control
- analyze linear systems in Matlab with both state space and transfer function representations
- analyze models of systems using undergraduate-level math (complex numbers, Laplace transforms, matrices)

The name of this course "Robust Control" only partly reflects the contents. It is foremost a course on the mathematics of control system design, and how to implement these techniques in Matlab.
In nine chapters nine topics in advanced control are explored: dynamical systems, norms of signals and systems, stability of closed loops, fundamental limitations of control, a chapter on classic control design and then H2-control, H-infinity control, parametric uncertainty, and uncertainty modelling and robustness. Matlab is integrated in the course.
