After following the course a student is able to:

design controllers for linear system using a series of classical and modern methods

understand how to model uncertainty in an H-infinity framework

understand the basics of H2 control and related LQ and LQG

comprehend fundamental limitations of control

analyze linear systems in Matlab with both state space and transfer function representations

analyze models of systems using undergraduate-level math (complex numbers, Laplace transforms, matrices)

The name of this course "Robust Control" only partly reflects the contents. It is foremost a course on the mathematics of control system design, and how to implement these techniques in Matlab.
In nine chapters nine topics in advanced control are explored: dynamical systems, norms of signals and systems, stability of closed loops, fundamental limitations of control, a chapter on classic control design and then H2-control, H-infinity control, parametric uncertainty, and uncertainty modelling and robustness. Matlab is integrated in the course.
