Aims
Render insight in the operation and design of wireless transceiver electronics.
Content
This MSc course renders insight in the operation and design of wireless transceiver electronics. The final examination concerns a design assignment that includes deriving circuit specifications from radio system specifications, designing a receiver circuit block and simulating of its performance using state-of-the-art industrial simulation software (SpectreRF ). The course content includes:
Advanced RF Integrated Circuit (IC) technologies (brief overview)
RF terminology and specifications
Wireless transmitter and receiver architectures
Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) circuit topologies and design
Mixer circuit topologies and design
Oscillator circuit topologies and design
RF and IF filter topologies and design
RF Power Amplifier topologies and design
Design of a CMOS Radio transceiver block-chain starting from a link budget
Simulation techniques for RF transceiver Circuits
