The selected topic for an individual student may be anything in the range of computer use to support a
design process (CAD) to computer use supporting or controlling a manufacturing process (CAM).
Disregarding the details of the assignment however, the educational goals remain the same.
After the course the student is able to:
- demonstrate his or her understanding of the provided scientific materials in a discussion,
- explain the bottleneck or area in need for improvement,
- explain the impact of the topic for:
             a) the people involved, b) the data flow in the software and c) the organisation.
- make recommendations for implementation of a solution or further research.
Course description/ contents:
Course description:
Development and manufacturing of products are processes that rely heavily on the support of computer
software. This course challenges students to solve industrial problems by applying existing technologies.

Course content:
Individual assignments in Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing on topics not covered in the
regular courses. The content, form and extent is determined in consultation with the chair.
Activities are: problem analysis, literature study, proposal/selection of solutions, possibly a realization
and review of the effects.
